Epson SecurColor Printer

The healthcare industry adheres to stringent regulations to ensure patient safety at all levels. With the advent of bar coding, hospitals are able to assign each patient a unique code to minimize medication errors and maximize efficiency. To do this, hospitals and other health care facilities utilize advanced printing technologies as provided by the Epson SecurColorPrinter.

Epson’s SecurColor Printer offers the healthcare industry color enhanced labels, meal tickets and wrist bands without the time consuming nuisance of changing ink cartridges. The system software produces the right colors to reduce human error with on-demand color printing solutions.

The benefits of color are known throughout the healthcare industry. Hospitals use colors to alert practitioners of allergies or special conditions, to mark laboratory specimens, and to mark patient records. Color can enhance existing systems without the rigidity of color coding which experts testifying at an FDA hearing in 2005 said “could be an effective tool for making information on drug labels stand out.”

Epson works with leading industry partners to ensure that they meet all current healthcare industry requirements. The printer supports all leading bar code formats and connects to the provider’s existing information system with a USB 2.0 and Ethernet interface. The printing is controlled through a Windows driver system.

The printer uses inkjet rather than laser technology for cleaner color. Laser technology is well suited to documents, but the Epson’s on-demand color printing produces sharper results for color enhanced products.

The SecurColor is fast and user friendly, printing 3.7” per second and adjusts to widths from 1.2” to 4.4”. With selectable print resolution up to 720 x 360 dpi, patient information is printed clearly and is easily scanned. Users can easily access the printer as it has front loading labels and ink cartridges minimizing down time. Its small footprint decreases space requirements allowing users more workspace.
